I am new to home espresso. The grinder perfectly suits my needs. I typically single dose directly into the container and then transfer into the porta filter. I find very little coffee ground retention, static or mess. I don’t believe I’ve had an issue getting it dialled in. (2 x clicks from 0 is where it stays most of the time). I tried to RDT once, and I found that was the only time coffee beans jammed the grinder. The burrs were super easy to remove to clear any blockage (I could not identify the blockage - the machine just functioned perfectly after the clean out) never had an issue since. It’s pretty quiet, small footprint and it certainly handles grinding a larger amount of beans if I have to make multiple drinks.

I was a little nervous about buying this grinder due to the limited number of reviews. I’m new to espresso, having recently upgraded from a capsule machine to a Breville Bambino Plus, so I needed a grinder but didn’t want to spend a fortune. One of my main requirements was size — I have limited height clearance under my cupboards and didn’t want a tall or bulky grinder. This one is super compact and actually shorter than my Bambino, which I love. I use it as a single-dose grinder. The hopper lid works well as a measuring tray, and once grinding is finished I gently pump the lid up and down a few times to help push the remaining grounds through. There does seem to be a small amount of retention — sometimes a little clump falls out if you tap or knock the machine — but giving it a firm tap usually clears most of it. My biggest disappointment is the grind range. The description says it’s suitable for espresso, but if I’m being picky, it doesn’t quite grind fine enough. I’ve been using grind settings 1–2 and my shots still tend to run a little fast. I am getting decent-tasting coffee with good crema, but I can’t help wondering whether I’d get better results with something like a DF54 — though I’m struggling to justify the price difference. One feature I really like is the ability to grind directly into the portafilter. I use a magnetic collar on my 54mm portafilter and it inserts easily. There can be a small amount of spray out the front, but overall it’s fairly minimal and not too messy. Using the grounds cup is very tidy and creates almost no mess at all. However, transferring the coffee from the wide cup into the portafilter can be a bit clunky, with some static causing grounds to cling to the cup. Overall, I think this is a decent grinder for the price. I’ll persevere with a few different beans and continue experimenting with the grind settings. It would easily be a 5/5 if it had slightly finer espresso settings — or a built-in timer for dosing — although it does work reasonably well for single dosing. In terms of noise, I think it’s acceptable. I haven’t owned a grinder before, but while it is a bit loud, it’s nowhere near as unpleasant as I expected. Rating: 4/5 — great compact, budget grinder, just needs finer espresso capability.

Looks great, compact, grinds well and is quiet. I use the 54mm portafilter attachment and one improvement I could suggest is a shield at the front to direct the ground coffee into the portafilter and prevent the grinds spraying all over the bench
